E49: COVID-19 Roundtable Update - 10/12
Wednesday Oct 14, 2020
Wednesday Oct 14, 2020
We’re back with another COVID-19 roundtable discussion at an awkward spot in our journey so far. We say “awkward” because in Arizona it isn’t quite clear what might happen soon, but there is a sense, based on other states, that another increase in cases could be coming. Depending on which data source you choose, up to 39 states are now experiencing an upward trend. In places like Bismarck North Dakota, hospitals are at capacity. Here in Arizona, there are indications, but not a clear trend as of this discussion’s October 12 recording date. This roundtable starts where most previous editions left off: with vaccines. As Phase 3 trials continue, we share what is known to this point about possible availability, and possible protocols for who gets access to vaccines when. There’s also a highly informative discussion about the pros and cons of Emergency Use Authorization vs. a full 3 phase trial approach. There’s a lot more than that to this episode. Listen in as we talk about vaccines, superspreaders, modeling, emergency use authorizations and more. In short, its time to talk about life with COVID-19 as of October 12, 2020.
